Old-time Barn Dance!

Mark your calendars for a fun and exciting dance featuring CSUMC’s Musician-in-Residence Beth Hoven Rotto and the Scandinavian-American Old-time Dance Music Ensemble!

Coming off the heels of a fantastic debut performance in the Great Hall of Memorial Union on UW-Madison’s campus, the Ensemble will be performing their old-time repertoire for dancers at a recently refurbished barn in Middleton, WI. This event will be about as close as you’ll come to an old-time barn dance from the turn of the 20th century, featuring dance tunes of the Scandinavian-Americans who settled in the Driftless Area. Expect a slightly rustic setting, with portable toilets, some original (and uneven) floorboards, and a cheerful, casual atmosphere!

The dance will be held at The Old Barn at 4796 Capitol View Rd, Middleton, WI 53562, it is free and open to the public, and refreshments will be provided. Carpooling and masks encouraged but not required.

We hope to see you there!

This event is co-sponsored by the Department of German, Nordic, Slavic+, the Mead Witter School of Music, the Mills Music Library, and the Nordic Folklife project.
