The Center for the Study of Upper Midwestern Cultures is hosting another great performance and dance featuring former Musician-in-Residence Beth Hoven Rotto, Jon Rotto, and the Scandinavian-American Old-time Dance Music Ensemble!
Beth, Jon, and the Ensemble will be performing their old-time repertoire for dancers in a refurbished barn in Middleton, WI. This event will be about as close as you’ll come to an old-time barn dance from the turn of the 20th century, featuring dance tunes of the Scandinavian-Americans who settled in the Driftless Area. Expect a slightly rustic setting, with portable toilets, some original (and uneven) floorboards, and a cheerful, casual atmosphere. Dress for fall temperatures, mask according to your personal preference. You are welcome bring a lawn chair for sitting on the lawn outside the barn (you might want a blanket to cover up with as well!).
The event is free and open to the public and refreshments will be provided. Carpooling is encouraged.
All are welcome! We hope to see you there!
Location: The Old Barn on Capitol View, 4796 Capitol View, Rd., Middleton, WI 53704
