You may not be aware, but CSUMC has a YouTube channel with some great new videos featuring Upper Midwestern artists we’ve had the pleasure of collaborating with throughout the pandemic. You’ll be able to find several music videos featuring the Minneapolis-based band, Laulu Aika, performing tunes from the book, Songs of the Finnish Migration. In addition, we’ve posted the first two virtual events in a Finnish American folk music series we’re working on in collaboration with the Sustaining Scandinavian Folk Art in the Upper Midwest project and Finn Fest USA. We’ve also recorded music performances by the Swedish duo Maja Heurling and Ola Sandström performing Swedish American poems set to music, we’ll be posting more great Finnish American fiddle tunes by the musician Sara Pajunen, and sharing a weaving workshop and presentation about Norwegian weaving traditions by fiber artist Laura Demuth. There’s a lot to explore with more to come throughout 2021! Come check us out!
