“Finnish Sympathies” Lecture and Concert Featuring Jimmy Träskelin and Tallari

CSUMC is co-sponsoring an exciting lecture and concert on Monday, September 23rd from 7-8:30pm in Memorial Union on the UW-Madison campus (800 Langdon St.). The evening event entitled “Displaced Sympathies: Finnish Out- and In-Migration Then and Now,” will feature Finnish musician Jimmy Träskelin and the band Tallari as they present their new album, Lähtölaulu – A Song of Departure. Lähtölaulu was inspired by a book of Finnish-American songs that has recently been translated into English as Songs of the Finnish Migration by UW-Madison scholars in the Department of German, Nordic, and Slavic, Thomas A. DuBois and B. Marcus Cederström.
