Outdoor Project Facility Development: Collaborative Project with Richard Rudis

Goal:

2^nd graders will develop a floor plan for the Outdoor Project Facility Development (OPF) with Mr. Rudis.

Objective:

To develop a workable floor plan for the NCES Outdoor Project Facility.

Process:

1. Look at the building plans for the proposed OPF with Mr. Rudis.

2. Discuss possible projects and uses for the OPF.

3. Talk about agricultural buildings and designs with Mr. Rudis.

4. Visit the Rudis farm. (Trip was postponed until spring due to illness in Mr. Rudis’ family.)

5. Interview Mr. Rudis about farming as a boy with his family.

6. Draw designs for the OPF floor plans.

7. Choose the best and most workable floor plan for NCES’ OPF.

8. Build a scale model of the floor plan.

9. Present to NCES staff /Governing Council for approval.

Timeline:

Project is scheduled for completion in late April to facilitate actual construction on the OPF in mid-May of 2006.
