The Midwest Folklife Festival was a collaborative project involving several institutions:

• Folklore Village
• The Center for the Study of Upper Midwestern Cultures at the University of Wisconsin-Madison
• The Wisconsin Arts Board

In addition, the Iowa Arts Council funded several folk artists from Iowa, and both the Iowa Arts Council and the Minnesota State Arts Council provided their state folklorists as interpretive presenters for performances during the festival.
